Sprint

  • George Russell wins
  • Ferrari got the most out of the Sprint race. P2 and P3.
  • The Sprint was anything but boring. The opening laps were incredibly entertaining for the fans. With the new rule set, we’re seeing a lot of overtakes early on.

Race

  • Kimi Antonelli wins without too much stress. Well, except for the final laps when he went slightly off track 😅. Really lovely for him and well deserved!
  • Hamilton’s first podium with Ferrari. We finally get to see him smiling, hopefully the team won’t drag him back into depression this season.
  • Ferrari put on a show for P3. Charles and Lewis overtook each other multiple times in sections where you can’t rely on aero, but rather on raw driver ability, pure skill. By far the best part of the race.
  • A lot of DNFs (7)
  • I don’t think Max Verstappen is too happy. I can see him retiring mid-season if Red Bull keeps going like this.
  • Gasly had a strong race, didn’t expect that from Alpine. Berman too.
  • This pretty much sums up where Mercedes’ true pace is. Since Russell was running behind and had to close the gap to Antonelli, he pushed absolutely everything he had to cut the difference. There was no more to give. Which is actually useful, now we know what the real gap looks like. The season is long and we might see Ferrari improve. Right now, I don’t see any other team being able to close in on Mercedes.
  • Aston Martin doesn’t seem to be recovering in any way, both cars retired.
